Four Star Transportation has been providing logistics services across the Midwest for more than 70 years.
Noospheric began a consulting relationship with Four Star in 2002 and continues to consult Four Star in areas of information technology, marketing, and business strategy. The relationship with Four Star has evolved from providing direction on mainframe software and hardware choices to acting as an in-house Manager of Information Services (MIS).

When Four Star needed to develop a new long term relationship with an information technology consultant that was both nearby and very experienced, Four Star turned to Noospheric. We first provided Four Star with a comprehensive business and information technology analysis to help determine the type of consultant Four Star needed today and moving forward. Often times, the process requires designing a database of valuable information presented into executive reports.
In the case of Four Star, several unique challenges were presented:
1) There existed a mixture of old and new technology that both required day to day support;
2) Four Star anticipated continued growth that would soon require a new enterprise level software system;
3) Finding a local consultant was key as Four Star's needs required on-site support.
Noospheric took the project on with a limited budget and timeframe.
Using our proprietary network of resources, we were able to form a short but qualified list of potential consultants and vendors. Finding consultants who understood AS400 environments, advanced technology packages specially designed for logistics companies, and a current client-server network was the challenge.
Noospheric coordinated two weeks of intensive interview and review of each consultant and vendor company. We presented our evaluation and recommendation to Four Star who then interviewed and approved the selection. From there, Noospheric negotiated and finalized the long term contract. Four Star has been working successfully with the vendor for over a year and they are exactly where they want to be.
